The Moomins ( Swedish : Mumintrollen , pronounced [ˈmɵmiːnˌtrɔlːən] ) are the central characters in a series of novels , short stories, picture books , and a comic strip by Swedish-speaking Finnish writer and illustrator Tove Jansson , originally published in Swedish by Schildts in Finland.
