Charyshsky District ( Russian : Чары́шский райо́н ) is an administrative and municipal district ( raion ), one of the fifty-nine in Altai Krai , Russia . It is located in the south of the krai . The area of the district is 6,881 square kilometers (2,657 sq mi). Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo ) of Charyshskoye . Population: 12,337 ( 2010 Census ) ; 14,898 ( 2002 Census ) ; 15,774 ( 1989 Soviet census ) . The population of Charyshskoye accounts for 26.1% of the district's total population.
