Frei is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway . The 65-square-kilometre (25 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 2008 when it was incorporated into Kristiansund Municipality . It was located between the Kvernesfjorden and Freifjorden , primarily including the island of Frei and the smaller surrounding islands.
