Féile ( Irish pronunciation: [ˈfʲeːlʲə] ; "Festival") was a music festival held in the Republic of Ireland between 1990 and 1997, originally known as The Trip to Tipp . The original venue was in Semple Stadium in Thurles , County Tipperary , hence the nicknames of "The Trip to Tipp". Féile was generally a three-day festival held over the bank holiday weekend in early August. In 1996 it was in July; in 1997, it was reduced to a single day in late August.

102-573: The festival was a progression from the Siamsa Cois Laoi held in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in the 1980s, and the Slane Concerts at Slane Castle , which had been on hiatus since 1987 but would return from 1992. The Oxegen festival, first held as Witnness at Fairyhouse Racecourse in 2000, was seen as filling the gap left by the ending of Féile, and had the same promoters, MCD . In September 2018

The tape was well received by Flint and Thornhill, who developed new dance sequences to the music and suggested to Howlett they begin

In early 2024, it was reported that the Cork County Board and Musgrave Group had agreed a three-year naming rights deal, to refer to the stadium as " SuperValu Páirc". With criticism from some commentators (including as the proposed name dropped the "name of the man [..] after whom Páirc Uí Chaoimh was named"), as of 17 January the board stated that "no final decision has been taken" on

408-648: A "hard dance band" commercially successful but without compromise. The band avoided mainstream exposure, declining offers to appear on Top of the Pops and other national television shows in the UK. Their performance of "Everybody in the Place" on the BBC2 television series Dance Energy in 1991 remains their only one on British television. In the ensuing years, their music videos received airplay on MTV Europe which boosted their popularity across

This culminated in their first official release, the EP What Evil Lurks , in February 1991, containing four tracks that Howlett had produced on

612-471: A 5.1 DTS surround sound mix, and all were free of digital rights management . In 2005, the band released a compilation Their Law: The Singles 1990–2005 , which spawned a single containing new remixes of the songs "Out of Space" (" Audio Bullys Remix") and " Voodoo People " (the " Pendulum Remix"). The latter was also followed by a music video filmed in Romford Market , Essex , which featured on

714-580: A 60,000-seat sports and concert venue in conjunction with the Cork Docklands redevelopment which was estimated to cost over €30m. If these plans had gone ahead, Cork would have had the second largest stadium in the country behind Croke Park . This specific plan was not progressed. On 25 September 2018, the stadium hosted association football for the first time, a benefit match for Cork-born Ireland international Liam Miller , who died of cancer aged 36 that February. A Manchester United legends team defeated

816-437: A Republic of Ireland/ Celtic legends team 3–2 on penalties after the match had finished 2–2 after 90 minutes. The official attendance for the match was 42,878. The estimated $ 5 million deal was announced in February 1997, an unprecedented amount for a rave influenced act, with

Prior to this, in 1983 , Páirc Uí Chaoimh hosted an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship semi-final replay in which Cork lost to Dublin . It will be directed by long time collaborator Paul Dugdale and produced by Pulse Films. On 7 March 2022, The Prodigy announced a return to

1734-647: A number of studios and a few restarts to establish that "angry, energetic sound". Unlike previous efforts, The Day Is My Enemy became a band-album where Flint and Maxim worked in tandem with Howlett. This created a degree of friction although Flint noted that "four years ago we sat down and talked about where the next album was gonna go, and we knew we had to bust out the most 'band' album we could create". The band played at Future Music Festival Australia in February–March 2015 and toured Germany and France in April 2015 and

2550-666: Is now the CAB Ford garage on the Monahan Road. By the 1960s, the Cork Athletic Grounds did not serve the needs of the modern era, and the ground's facilities were described as "primitive" by some contemporary commentators.
